Animal Science Transfer Major
The animal science field focuses on the science and business of producing domestic livestock species, including but not limited to beef or dairy cattle, horses, poultry, sheep and swine. You will study foods of animal origin, such as beef and dairy foods, and the proper nutrition, care and welfare of livestock. The on-site Iowa's Dairy Center and Beef Education Center provide herd environment experience and prepare you for more advanced education and training in the field.
You will graduate prepared to transfer to a bachelor's degree program in animal science or a specialized focus area, knowing strategies that improve the efficiency, sustainability and profitability of livestock operations, all skills that will advance your career locally or on the family farm. Agreements established with four-year colleges ensure your credits transfer.

Enrollment Process
- Apply for admission.
- Submit official high school, high school equivalency and/or college transcripts to the Admissions Office of the campus you plan to attend.
- Complete ACCUPLACER® reading and writing assessment and ALEKS® math assessment forcourse placement. Assessments may be waived based on previous college coursework or submission of valid ACT®, or SAT® test scores. Reading and writing scores are valid for three years, and math scores are valid for two years.
